A Lesser Known Advent Hymn

I think we are all fairly familiar with Come, Thou Long Expected Jesus and O Come, O Come Emmanuel, but there are a number of other hymns that are much less common, but great for the season. The following hymn is one that I'd never heard before, but it seems like the mentality that the Jews may have had while awaiting a Messiah.

O Come, Divine Messiah

O come, Divine Messiah,
The world in silence waits the day
When hope shall sing its triumph,
And sadness flee away.

Dear Savior haste!
Come, come to earth.
Dispel the night and show Thy face,
And bid us hail the dawn of grace.
O come, Divine Messiah,
The world in silence waits the day
When hope shall sing its triumph,
And sadness flee away.

O Thou whom nations sighed for,
Whom priest and prophet long foretold,
Wilt break the captive fetters,
Redeem the long lost fold.

Dear Savior haste!
Come, come to earth.
Dispel the night and show Thy face,
And bid us hail the dawn of grace.

O come, Divine Messiah,
The world in silence waits the day
When hope shall sing its triumph,
And sadness flee away.
